The National Weather Service has canceled a flash flood warning for Kaua‘i, and both lanes of Kūhiō Highway have reopened near the Hanalei Bridge.
The flash flood warning was replaced with a flood advisory for northern communities until 1:30 p.m.
At 10:33 a.m., local law enforcement reported moderate rain over North Kaua‘i. Minor flooding is expected. Rain was falling at a rate of 0.5 to 1.5 inches per hour.
Areas that could experience flooding include Princeville, Kīlauea, Hanalei, North Fork Wailua Trails, Wainiha, Alakai Swamp Trails, Hā‘ena, Wailua Homesteads, Nāpali State Park and Moloa‘a.
Hanalei Elementary School was closed to students and staff Wednesday morning because of the heavy rain and flooding on Kūhiō Highway near the Hanalei River Bridge, preventing safe access to and from the school.

A flood advisory was also extended for southern portions of the island until 1:15 p.m.
At 9:57 a.m., Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that light to moderate rain is continuing over the island. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly within the
advisory area.
Heavier rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Some locations that will experience flooding include Līhu‘e, Kapa‘a, Kalāheo, Kekaha, Hanapēpē, Lāwa‘i, ‘Ōma‘o, Waimea,
Kōloa, Po‘ipū, Kōke‘e State Park and Wailua Homesteads.
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
