The National Weather Service has extended the high surf advisory for the south-facing shores of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau through 6 a.m. Tuesday.
A south-southwest swell generated by Hurricane Nolo is producing advisory-level surf along south-facing shores of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau.
The swell is expected to ease gradually over the next 24 hours, though uncertainty remains about how quickly wave heights will decline. Beachgoers should remain cautious as elevated surf and strong currents can create hazardous conditions, particularly near shorelines and reef areas.
On Sunday morning, large breaking waves of 10 to 14 feet were expected along coastlines in the advisory areas. They were forecast to diminish to 9 to 12 feet on Sunday evening.
