The southbound lane is closed for a portion of Kūhiō Highway, between Hardy Street and Poinciana Street, for emergency water service repair work, effective as of 10 a.m. today, in Līhuʻe.

Kauaʻi County Department of Water reports the water service shutdown is expected to last until noon. Road repair work is then expected to last until about 3 p.m.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to slow down and allow extra travel time through the work zone area.

Updates will be posted online.

Email to publicrelations@kauaiwater.org for additional information. Call 808-245-5444 to report a water service outage or a leak.

Kauaʻi Island Utility Cooperative also is repairing transmission poles on the Hanalei side of Hanalei Bridge today, which requires a lane closure with alternating traffic, that could last 8 hours or more to complete.

The project was expected to start this morning and continue into early this evening.

Motorists should be prepared for delays, plan accordingly and use extra caution around coned work areas.

Flaggers will be onsite to provide traffic control.
