Kaua‘i Police Department reports a dead man was discovered by first responders Friday afternoon in Wainiha.
First responders were dispatched at about 1 p.m. Friday to a report of a deceased man found in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway and Wainiha Powerhouse Road.
The man was identified as a 59-year-old Wainiha resident. Kaua‘i police are trying to notify next of kin; the man’s name cannot be released at this time.
A preliminary investigation determined the area where the dead man was discovered experienced significant flooding during Hurricane Lowell.
An autopsy is pending to determine his exact cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
The investigation is ongoing.
