The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division recently welcomed Bonifacio and Emily Andres, both majors serving the nonprofit organization, as new corps officers of the Hanapēpē Corps on Kauaʻi.
They bring combined decades of ministry and community service experience to their Hanapēpē post.
“We’re pleased to welcome Majs. Bonifacio and Emily Andres to Kauaʻi,” said The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division Divisional Commander Maj. Troy Trimmer in a release. “Their experience and dedication will be a great asset to the Hanapēpē community.”
The Andreses were raised in Salvation Army families, where they experienced firsthand the transforming work of the organization before entering full-time ministry as officers.
Maj. Emily Andres received her commission in May 1990 as a Salvation Army officer, while Maj. Bonifacio Andres received his in April 1997.
They faithfully served in several appointments in the Philippines — ministering throughout pastoral care, community outreach, youth and family ministries, administration and social services — before 2018 when they came to the United States.
The majors served 3 years as corps officers at The Salvation Army Antelope Valley Corps in Los Angeles County, California, prior to their appointment on Kaua‘i, where they now live in Hanapēpē with their three daughters.
“Our prayer is to honor God by serving faithfully, strengthening families, caring for those in need, developing future leaders and partnering with our community to bring hope to Kauaʻi,” said Maj. Bonifacio Andres in the release.
Arrival of the two new corps officers coincides with two upcoming annual events — Capt. Andy’s Nā Pali Coast Cruise for a Cause and the Hanapēpē Corps Kūpuna Luncheon — which return to further support and celebrate the Kauaʻi community.
“We are delighted to have their leadership at the helm as we work alongside caring local partners such as Capt. Andy’s and dedicated volunteers to meet the needs of our kūpuna, keiki and everyone in-between,” Trimmer said.
Hanapēpē Corps Kūpuna Luncheon
The Hanapēpē Corps will host its annual Kupuna Luncheon from 10 a.m. to noon today (Aug. 27) at the corps facility, located at 4465 Pūʻolo Road. The event honors faithful volunteers and includes activities celebrating kūpuna served throughout the year by the corps.
2nd annual Capt. Andy’s Nā Pali Coast Cruise for a Cause
Tickets are now available to purchase for the second annual Capt. Andy’s Nā Pali Coast Cruise for a Cause hosted by Capt Andy’s. The benefit event is slated for Nov. 14.
The first 20 tickets are available for $199 per person, with the price set to increase once those seats are sold.
Join Capt. Andy’s Sailing Adventures for a private sunset sail along Kauaʻi’s famous Nā Pali Coast while you enjoy a chef-prepared dinner, live music and silent auction.
All funds raised through ticket sales will directly benefit the Hanapēpē Corps to kick off the 2026 Red Kettle season for the holidays. Every dollar raised will support The Salvation Army’s services on Kauaʻi’s west side, including food assistance, youth and kupuna programs and disaster relief.
