Kaua‘i Fire Department is responding to reports of smoke and flames in Wainiha in the vicinity of ʻAnanalu Road.
The activity could be related to possible reignition of a brush fire earlier this week in the same area.

Preliminary reports show firefighters were called to the new fire shortly after 2:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in response to reports of smoke and active flames in the area. There are no reports of damage to nearby structures or injuries.
Firefighters arrived and found multiple smoldering hot spots in the area. Personnel from Hanalei Fire Station are working to fully extinguish the remaining hot spots and will remain on scene to mop up.
There are no active flames at this time. No also are no road closures in place at this time.
Firefighters from Hanalei Fire Station and Air 1 responded.
The previous brush fire was reported shortly before 1:30 p.m. Aug. 20 and burned about 100 acres.
