Kauaʻi police offer chance for residents to connect with officers over coffee

The Kauaʻi Police Department will host its next “Coffee with a Cop” community outreach event on Thursday, giving residents an opportunity to meet with officers and discuss local concerns in an informal setting.
The gathering will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Starbucks Coffee in the Kukui Grove Center in Līhuʻe.
No appointments are required, and community members are encouraged to stop by, ask questions, and share feedback with law enforcement personnel.
Last month, the department and community gathered on July 8 at Kind Koffee after a four-year hiatus.
“Coffee with a Cop is designed to show the community that we welcome interactions and are here to listen,” Kauaʻi Police Chief Rudy Tai stated.
The program is intended to create opportunities for residents and officers to connect outside of traditional law enforcement settings. Organizers said the event has no formal agenda and is focused on conversation and relationship-building over coffee.
