Portions previously closed on Kūhiō Highway reopen following emergency water service repair
Kaua‘i County Department of Water reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11 that water service is restored to impacted customers and both lanes of Kūhiō Highway, between Uhelekawawa Canal Bridge and Hoi Road in the vicinity of Safeway and Ross Dress for Less, are open in Kapa‘a following emergency water service repairs.

One lane of the highway in that area was closed while crews worked to correct the issue.
The county reported about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday that a one‑lane closure of the southbound lane was in effect for the portion of Kūhiō Highway between Uhelekawawa Canal Bridge and Hoi Road, in the vicinity of Safeway and Ross Dress for Less, because of necessary emergency repairs following a break in a water line in that area.
Traffic control personnel and flaggers directed traffic and helped maintain safe passage through the area while crews worked throughout the day to fix the leak.
