A live televised broadcast covering the 2026 Primary Elections on Aug. 8 at the Akakū studios in Kahului will feature host Rick Nava and Hawaiʻi Journalism Initiative and Pacific Media Group’s Cammy Clark.

Coverage will feature real-time election results, live studio conversations with candidates and leaders about issues shaping the community, what is happening politically and what needs to happen to move Maui forward.

In honor of the 3 year anniversary of Maui’s devastating and deadly wildfires, coverage also will include recorded interviews from Lahaina’s Kuhinia event with Akakū’s Chivo Ching-Johnson.

Coverage will run from 8-11 p.m.

Viewing is available on Channels 53, 54, and 55, the Maui Stream online and mobile app, or on Akakū’s YouTube channel.
