Update at 5:52 p.m. July 30: Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works and contractor Kaiwa Construction announce the extension from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday (July 31) for lane shifts and possible lane closures, weather permitting, along Halekō Road in the vicinity of Pua Loke Street in Līhu‘e.
The lane closures are necessary for public safety and to allow Kaiwa Construction to continue to conduct roadway and waterline probing.
Original post from 11:18 a.m. July 29: Lane shifts with possible lane closures on Halekō Road in the vicinity of Pua Loke Street in Līhu‘e are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30, weather permitting.
Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works said this is necessary for the public’s safety and to allow Kaiwa Construction to conduct roadway and waterline probing, a manual method used to locate underground buried water pipes or utility lines.
The department said motorists should use alternate routes if possible, and allow extra time to get to destinations. During this time, no parking will be allowed in the work zones. Flaggers will be positioned at the work zone to direct traffic.
