Update at 3 p.m. July 28: The Department of Water has rescheduled test water shutdown for portions of Kōloa.
The test shutdown will now be overnight from 10 p.m. Thursday, July 30 to 2 a.m. Friday, July 31, weather permitting.
Original story at 10 a.m. July 27: Kauaʻi County Department of Water notifies the public that it will conduct a test shutdown this week for portions of Kōloa.

The test shutdown is scheduled 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 30, weather permitting, and will affect:
- Old Mill Place.
- Makai Road.
- Smith Road.
- Malino Road.
- Portion of Kōloa Road.
- Upper portion of Poʻipū Road.
This test will help officials further evaluate the water system and identify any improvements needed before a future shutdown is scheduled for water line improvements.
Customers located in the affected areas are advised to prepare by taking the following steps:
- Store enough water to meet your needs.
- Notify family, friends, tenants and neighbors.
- Ensure water heaters do not empty.
- Avoid using appliances that require water during the test shutdown.
