Surfrider Kauaʻi invites the community for a free screening of the investigative documentary “Earth’s Greatest Enemy.”
The film explores environmental impacts of the U.S. military industrial complex and connections between militarism, pollution, climate change and environmental justice.
While it is global in scope, the documentary does include issues relevant to Hawaiʻi and the Pacific Ocean — such as the world’s largest international maritime exercise Rim of the Pacific — making it especially timely.
The 30th iteration of the military exercise takes place began June 24 and continues through July 31 in and around the Hawaiian Islands.
Mark your calendars for for 5 p.m. July 30 to attend the screening at Philippine Cultural Center, located at 4475 Nuhou St., in Puhi.
A community discussion is also scheduled following the screening to reflect on the film and continue the conversation. Conversation continues at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at Hōʻike Kauaʻi, located at 4318 Rice Street, in Līhuʻe.
