Residents in parts of Wailua Homesteads may experience intermittent water service disruptions next week as the Department of Water conducts repairs to a water tank.
The work has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The affected area includes the upper portion of Kuamoʻo Road from Paako Street to Reservoir Dam Road, as well as adjoining roads.
According to the Department of Water, crews will repair a water tank while a booster pump operates in low-frequency mode to help maintain water pressure throughout the area.
Depending on water demand, customers may experience intermittent water outages or fluctuations in water pressure during the repair period. Properties near Reservoir Dam Road and Kimo Drive, as well as homes and businesses on second floors or in elevated structures, are expected to be most susceptible to temporary service interruptions.
To help meet residents’ drinking water needs, the department will also provide two potable water stations, commonly known as water buffaloes, near 6805 Kimo Drive and 7401 Kuamoo Road.
Customers are asked to bring their own containers to collect water.
The Department of Water encourages customers in the affected area to prepare in advance by storing enough water for household needs, notifying family members, tenants and neighbors about the scheduled work, ensuring water heaters do not run dry, and avoiding the use of water-dependent appliances while repairs are underway.
All work is dependent on the weather.
