The annual cleanup for a portion of Maluhia Road ahead of the Kōloa Plantation Days celebration is scheduled for July 11.

The events for Kōloa Plantation Days start on July 17 and continue through July 26. Click here for additional details about the celebration.

The cleanup will close the road from Kaumuali‘i Highway to Ala Kino‘iki junction from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. During that time, traffic will be diverted to Kōloa Road, according to a news release from Kaua‘i County.

As a reminder, ‘Ōma‘o Road is a narrow residential road that is not intended to be used as a detour route and is not designed for high volumes of traffic or truck traffic. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of Ōma‘o Road.

Motorists should allow for extra travel time and follow the speed limits and all traffic signs.

Electronic message boards will be installed to inform motorists.

In addition, the County of Kaua‘i Roads Division will be present and conduct grass-cutting and shoulder maintenance work.

For more information about the road closure, contact the Roads Division at 808-241-4847 or pwroads@kauai.gov.
