UPDATE: Reported multi-vehicle blaze in Līhuʻe under control; Kauaʻi firefighters continue mop-up

Kaua‘i Fire Department reports in its 5 p.m. update that firefighters continue to respond to a multi-vehicle fire reported shortly after 2 p.m. June 24 near the intersection of Kanakolu Street and ʻEhiku Street in Līhuʻe.
An about 50-by-50-foot area of debris and metal was engulfed in flames, causing heavy smoke in the area. Crews have the fire under control, and firefighters will remain on scene to continue mop-up operations.
There also continues to be no threat to nearby structures. No injuries have been reported.
The public is advised to immediately cease all recreational drone activity in the area because of safety concerns with responding Air 1 helicopter.
Personnel with the Līhuʻe and Kalāheo fire stations, Air 1, Airport Rescue and Fire and Kaua’i Police Department are responding. Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is also monitoring the incident.
The public is advised to avoid the area, as firefighters continue to work.
