Kaua‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park and Oceanit Laboratories, invites the public to a community meeting for the Morgan’s Ponds Breakwater Maintenance Project.
The meeting is from noon to 2 p.m. on July 25 at Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i in the Conservatory Room, which is located at 3-5920 Kūhiō Highway in Kapaʻa, adjacent to Lydgate Beach Park.
At the meeting, an update will be provided about the proposed plan to repair the Morgan’s Ponds breakwater wall at Lydgate Beach Park.
Community members are encouraged to participate and provide feedback about the proposed design and maintenance plan.
If you plan to attend, RSVP by July 17 via email to lydgate@oceanit.com.
This meeting follows a Dec. 7, 2024, community engagement session during which participants reviewed and discussed options for a long-term maintenance strategy to preserve Morgan’s Ponds, its shoreline and the breakwater structure.
It also builds upon an initial July 20, 2024, community “talk story” session at Lydgate Beach Park, where community members shared ideas that helped shape the alternatives presented at the December meeting.
