Ocean Safety Officials find no Portuguese man o’ war, reopen waters at ʻAnini

UPDATE 3:29 p.m. June 15: Ocean Safety Bureau officials lifted the no-swimming advisory at Anini Beach on Monday after a reassessment found no signs of Portuguese man o’ war in the area.

Original Post: Kaua‘i Ocean Safety Bureau officials advise no swimming this weekend as Portuguese man o’ war were spotted Saturday, June 13, in waters off ‘Anini Beach Park on Saturday, June 13.

Signs are posted in the area. Officials will reassess the waters Monday morning, June 15.

Beachgoers are urged to follow all warning signs.
