Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority launches search for new leader

Hawai‘i Tourism Authority began its search for a president and chief executive officer who will guide the state’s tourism industry into a new era.

The person hired will serve as the agency’s chief executive and will be responsible for carrying out the policies and directives of the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority Advisory Board, governor and Hawai‘i Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism. They also oversee all agency operations.

The ideal candidate will have executive-level leadership experience in tourism, destination management, economic development or a related field, along with experience working with government agencies, boards or legislative bodies. Click here for a detailed job description.

Domestic Violence Action Center names Urosevich as new chief executive

Domestic Violence Action Center appointed Kerrie Urosevich as the organization’s next chief executive officer.

Urosevich brings more than 25 years of nonprofit executive leadership experience throughout public policy, peacebuilding, systems change, early childhood development, family violence prevention and cross-sector collaboration. She is widely recognized for helping organizations and communities navigate complex challenges with clarity, courage and care.

She officially takes her new position June 15.

Zippy’s Camino Al Norte now open in Las Vegas

Zippy’s Restaurants recently celebrated the grand opening of its fifth location in Las Vegas, a new spot on Camino Al Norte in North Las Vegas.

The grand opening celebration included a traditional Hawaiian blessing, untying of a maile lei by Zippy’s Chief Executive Officer Jason Higa as well as an offering of traditional Hawaiian chants and hula.

Zippy’s Camino Al Norte features the restaurant’s first and only prepaid order pickup lane in Las Vegas and is open 6 a.m. to midnight for takeout and 7 a.m. to midnight for dining in Monday through Sunday.

Hawai‘i State Federal Credit Union raises $70K to support kona low relief efforts

Hawai‘i State Federal Credit Union donated $70,000 through its annual “Spring into Giving” campaign to support organizations assisting people and families impacted by the March 10-24 back-to-back kona low flooding.

The funds will be used by nonprofits providing emergency shelter, food distribution, financial assistance and long-term recovery services for those affected. A total of 117 donations were made by 94 employees, demonstrating strong employee engagement in supporting the effort.

Distribution of funds is as follows: $13,542 to Aloha United Way, $11,175 to American Red Cross Hawai‘i Chapter; $21,681 to Hawai‘i Foodbank; $11,479 to Maui Food Bank; and $12,123 to The Salvation Army.
