19 lane closures scheduled during week of May 17-22 on Kaua‘i state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 19 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Kaua‘i state roadways during the week of May 17-22.

HIGHWAY 50

KĪPŪ TO ʻŌMAʻO

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 2.9 and 8.5 in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and Maha Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 17-22 for installing rumble strips on the edges and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAY 51

NAWILIWILI

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, near mile post 0.8 in the vicinity of Lālā Road and Kapule Highway, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 18-22 for installing pavement striping and markers on the roadway. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAYS 56/560

LĪHU‘E

• CENTER LANE CLOSURE in both directions, between mile posts 0.1 and 0.3 in the vicinity of Hardy Street and ʻAhukini Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 17-22 for waterline replacement. No left turns will be allowed through the work area.

KAPAʻA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 3 and 14 in the vicinity of Kauaʻi Beach Drive and ʻAliomanu Road, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. May 18-20 for landscape maintenance.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 9 and 9.8 in the vicinity of Kawaihau Road and Māʻilihunā Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 18-22 for guardrail installation.

ANAHOLA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 13 and 14 in the vicinity of Kukuihale Road and ʻAliomanu Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 18-22 for landscape maintenance.

KALIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 24.2 and 28 in the vicinity of Kāhiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. May 18-22 for striping.

HANALEI

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction, between mile posts 1.8 and 3.3 in the vicinity of Mālolo Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 21 for installation of raised crosswalks. Westbound traffic will be routed to Weke Road and eastbound traffic will stay on Kūhiō Highway.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction, between mile posts 2.8 and 3.3 in the vicinity of Mālolo Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 17-22 for paving work. Traffic will be detoured to Weke Road via Mālolo Road.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction, between mile posts 2.8 and 3.3 in the vicinity of Mālolo Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 18-22 for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

WAIKOKO

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 4.6 and 4.8 in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Beach, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 18-22 for striping.

LUMAHAʻI TO WAINIHA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 5 and 7 in the vicinity of Wainiha Powerhouse Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 18-22 for landscape maintenance.

HIGHWAY 58

PUA LOKE

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the eastbound direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 0.6 in the vicinity of Waʻa-pā Road and Lālā Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 18-22 for landscape maintenance.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the eastbound direction, between mile posts 1.9 and 2 in the vicinity of Kukui Grove Street and Kaumualiʻi Highway, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 18-22 for sewer line installation. Right turn pocket heading eastbound on Kaumualiʻi Highway will be closed and the shoulder eastbound on Kaumualiʻi Highway after the turn pocket will be closed. Traffic to detour to Haleko Road.

HIGHWAY 550

KŌKE‘E

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, between mile posts 0.1 and 3.2 in the vicinity of Huakaʻi Road, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 18-22 for pavement markers and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 4.6 and 11.5, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 18-22 for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAY 570

LĪHU‘E

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, between mile posts 0.4 and 0.48 in the vicinity of Palaʻi Street, from 2 to 6:30 a.m. May 18 for removing delineators. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAY 5600

WAILUĀ TO KAPAʻA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, between mile posts 0.7 and 3 in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway (Wailuā) to Olohena Road (Kapaʻa), from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 18-22 for striping.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, between mile posts 0.8 and 3 in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway (Wailuā) to Olohena Road (Kapaʻa), from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 18-22 for applying sealant.
