Young golfers on Kaua’i will soon have a chance to tee off their summer as registration opens next month for the county’s popular youth program at Wailua Golf Course.
The Department of Parks and Recreation has announced that registration for the 2026 Summer Golf Program will be held on June 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wailua Golf Pro Shop.
The program is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 15 and offers three separate two-week sessions throughout the summer.
County officials said enrollment is limited, and availability will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, with the cost being $35 per child for each session.
Participants must provide their own golf equipment, including a putter, 5-iron, 7-iron, 9-iron, a wedge, a driver and a golf bag.
Organizers said the program is designed to introduce young players to the fundamentals of golf while encouraging outdoor activity during the summer break.
The first session runs from June 15 to 26, followed by the second session from June 29 to July 10, and the third session from July 13 to 24. Classes will take place Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Participants are also encouraged to wear casual clothing with athletic shoes. Soccer cleats, baseball cleats, and spiked golf shoes will not be allowed. Parents and/or guardians are responsible for providing snacks, beverages, and sun protection for their children.
Only parents or legal guardians can sign the required waiver forms for registration.
Anyone signing on behalf of a parent to guardianship must provide a power of attorney or a notarized authorization document.
