Officials with the Kauaʻi Ocean Safety Bureau are advising the public to avoid swimming and all other ocean activities at Hanalei Bay and along all north-facing shores on Kauaʻi, except for Anini Beach, because of heavy runoff and brown water conditions.

County lifeguards are urging residents and visitors to stay out of the water as a precaution due to potentially hazardous conditions caused by recent runoff.

Ocean Safety Bureau officials said warning signs have been posted in affected areas and crews are continuing to monitor shoreline conditions. Beachgoers are encouraged to check with county lifeguards for updated ocean safety information before entering the water.
