17 lane closures scheduled during week of May 2-8 on Kaua‘i state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 17 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Kaua‘i state roadways during the week of May 2-8.

HIGHWAY 50

PUHI

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction, near mile post 1.2 in the vicinity of Nūhou Street, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 3 for troubleshooting and repairing traffic signal.

KĪPŪ TO ʻŌMAʻO

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 2.9 and 8.5 in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and Maha Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 3-8 for installing rumble strips on the edges and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

‘ELE‘ELE

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 15.9 and 16.2 in the vicinity of Waialo Road and Hanapēpē Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 4-5 for guardrail and gutter cleaning..

HIGHWAY 51

NĀWILIWILI

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, near mile post 0.8 in the vicinity of Lālā Road and Kapule Highway, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 4-8 for applying sealant on the roadway. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAYS 56/560

LĪHU‘E

• CENTER LANE CLOSURE in both directions, between mile posts 0.1 and 0.3 in the vicinity of Hardy Street and Ahukini Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 3-8 for waterline replacement. No left turns will be allowed through the work area.

WAILUĀ

• TWO LANE CLOSURE in the southbound direction, between mile posts 5.7 and 5.9 in the vicinity of Wailuā State Park Road and Kuamoʻo Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 4-8 for concrete work on the guardrail end post and sidewalk at the Wailuā Mauka Bridge. Traffic routed to the Wailuā Plantation Bridge.

KAPAʻA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 9 and 9.8 in the vicinity of Kawaihau Road and Māʻilihunā Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 4-8 for guardrail installation.

KEĀLIA TO ANAHOLA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 12 and 14 in the vicinity of ʻAliomanu Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 4-8 for cutting the grass.

KALIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE

• LANE SHIFT possible in either direction, between mile posts 24.4 and 28 in the vicinity of Kāhiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. May 3-8 for striping.

HANALEI

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction, between mile posts 2.8 and 3.3 in the vicinity of Mālolo Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 3-8 for paving work. Traffic will be detoured to Weke Road via Mālolo Road.

HIGHWAY 58

PUA LOKE

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the eastbound direction, between mile posts 1.9 and 2.0 in the vicinity of Kukui Grove Street and Kaumualiʻi Highway, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 4-8 for sewer line installation. Right turn pocket heading eastbound on Kaumualiʻi Highway will be closed and the shoulder eastbound on Kaumualiʻi Highway after the turn pocket will be closed. Traffic to detour to Haleko Road.

HIGHWAY 550

KŌKE‘E

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, between mile posts 0.1 and 3.2 in the vicinity of Huakaʻi Road, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 4-8 for pavement markers and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.6 and 1.1 in the vicinity of Pānini Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 5-8 for guardrail clearing.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 4.6 and 11.5, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 4-8 for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAY 580

WAILUĀ HOMESTEADS

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, between mile posts 1.6 and 1.9 in the vicinity of Kahawai Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 4-8 for installation of a chain link fence. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAY 583

KAPA‘IA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, between mile posts 3.5 and 3.9, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. May 4-6 and 8 for cutting the grass.

HIGHWAY 5600

WAILUĀ TO KAPAʻA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, between mile posts 0.8 and 3 in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway (Wailuā) to Olohena Road (Kapaʻa), from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 4-8 for applying sealant.
