At approximately 5:50 a.m. on March 16, police responded to a serious traffic collision at the intersection of Kūhiō Highway and Kuamoʻo Road in Wailua involving an electric motorcycle operator and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to Oʻahu for further care.

During this incident, Neher, while off duty, encountered the aftermath of the collision and immediately took action to assist the injured motorcyclist. Demonstrating exceptional courage and presence of mind, she rendered aid at the scene and performed CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived.

“Dispatcher Neher’s actions are a true testament to the caliber of our personnel,” said Chief Rudy Tai. “She went above and beyond the call of duty, directly contributing to the saving of a life. She serves as a role model for future dispatchers, and we are proud to honor her with this award.”
