The Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority is seeking proposals from eligible organizations for three programs aimed at supporting cultural preservation, community experiences and major events across the islands

Online applications are now open for projects scheduled between July and December 2026. Proposals must be submitted by May 7 for consideration in the current funding cycle.

“These programs support the community-based organizations, cultural practitioners, and events that help keep Hawai‘i’s culture and communities strong,” said Caroline Anderson, interim president and CEO of Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority. “They are an investment in the people and places that shape Hawai‘i’s identity and in experiences that are meaningful for residents and visitors.”

The agency is accepting submissions for its Signature Events, Community Enrichment Program and Kūkulu Ola initiatives.

The Signature Events program supports large-scale festivals and sporting events that align with Hawai‘i’s destination image and strengthen its global brand. These events often attract travelers from around the world and typically involve extensive national and international marketing efforts.

The Community Enrichment Program provides funding for community-developed experiences intended for both residents and visitors. Eligible projects may focus on areas such as agriculture, culture, culinary arts, education, health and wellness, nature, sports, and voluntourism.

The Kūkulu Ola program supports initiatives and cultural practitioners dedicated to preserving and perpetuating Native Hawaiian culture. Funding may go to craftspeople, musicians, linguists, and other artists working in resort areas and harbors statewide, with an emphasis on sharing Native Hawaiian culture in ways that are respectful, accurate, inviting, and educational.

Applications must be submitted through the agency’s Umeke portal, administered by Kilohana. For further information, including program details and a link to the virtual session, click here.
