A new breakfast and coffee spot has opened on Kauaʻiʻs southshore, offering residents and visitors a relaxed dining option in a historic plantation setting.
Kiahuna Sunrise Cafe is now open daily from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the grounds of the former Kiahuna Plantation in Poʻipū.
“Kauaʻi has a strong sense of place, and Poʻipū felt like the right setting for a breakfast spot that is relaxed, high-quality, and convenient,” said Kirk Coult, co-owner of the café.
“The goal was to create a cafe where great coffee and fresh food fit naturally into an unhurried island morning, whether dining in or heading out for the day.”
The cafe is designed to provide a casual, convenient start to the day, with lanai seating overlooking a koi pond and surrounding gardens.
The menu focuses on fresh, high-quality ingredients and classic breakfast items, including pancakes, breakfast burritos, multiple variations of eggs Benedict, sweet and savory crepes, and local dishes such as loco moco.

Signature offerings include chicken and waffles and chicken-fried steak.
A full coffee program features beans from Kauaʻi Roastery, known for its small-batch roasting and emphasis on sustainability and local coffee culture. The café also serves pastries from Orly Patisserie, led by pastry chef Orly Yadao, with French-inspired baked goods made from premium ingredients.
Coffee, pastries and select menu items are available for takeout.
The café offers free parking and Wi-Fi, with a streamlined format intended to accommodate both leisurely mornings and quick grab-and-go visits.
Housed in a restored plantation-era manager’s home, the space reflects the history of the Kiahuna Plantation, an area that once included Kihahouna Heiau, a significant cultural and spiritual site. The surrounding Koloa region later became part of Hawaiʻi’s first successful sugar plantation in the 19th century, linking the site’s past to its present-day use.
Kiahuna Sunrise Cafe is owned by Kirk and Paula Coult, whose seven-restaurant portfolio includes locations in Aspen, Breckenridge and Salida, Colorado; Whistler, British Columbia; and two other locations on Kauaʻi.
