According to the National Weather Service, a deepening low-pressure system west of the state will bring increasingly unsettled weather to Kauaʻi through the remainder of the week, drawing up tropical moisture and creating periods of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and an elevated flood risk.
Southerly to southeasterly winds will strengthen, late tonight into Thursday with the potential for High Wind Warning conditions Thursday afternoon through Friday, especially in heavier showers and downslope of mountain peaks, where strong gusts could occur.
The heaviest rainfall is expected late Thursday night through Friday as a frontal system intensifies just west of the island. While a brief break in rain is possible Saturday, additional periods of wet and unstable weather may continue into next week.
