The public is invited to join community leaders and advocates for the ceremony — standing together as one voice for change.

Everyone is encouraged to wear denim throughout the day as a visible statement against victim-blaming and in solidarity with survivors.

“We stand with survivors and with our community on Denim Day. What we wear should never be used as an excuse to harm or shift blame,” stressed Zonta Club of Kauaʻi President Regina Carvalho in an announcement about this year’s Denim Day observance. “By wearing denim, we send a clear message: We believe survivors, we reject victim blaming and we are committed to building a future where every woman and girl can live free from violence.”

Carvalho added that change begins with awareness.

“Denim Day, to me, represents standing with survivors with aloha in my heart, grounded in compassion, respect and a deep commitment to care for one another in our Kauaʻi community,” said Zonta Club of Kauaʻi Advocacy Co-Chairperson Eliza Kobayashi in the announcement.

Denim Day is a global campaign raising awareness about sexual violence and promoting education, advocacy and survivor support. Its observance on Kauaʻi continues to build momentum as businesses, schools and organizations around the island participate each year, creating a powerful, unified message.

Participants can show their support on social media by posting photos in denim with the hashtags #UseYourVoice and #KauaiDenimDay2026 while also tagging Zonta Club of Kauaʻi.

“Denim Day is more than a symbol — it’s a collective stand,” said Kauaʻi Committee on the Status of Women member Lori Barrett in the announcement. “When our community comes together, we amplify every voice, support every survivor and send a clear message that Kaua‘i believes, stands with and uplifts one another through awareness and action.”

Kauaʻi can make a statement that is seen, heard and felt — because every voice matters.
