A reuse collection event is scheduled for Friday at the Kaua‘i Resource Center in Līhu‘e from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Residents, businesses, and other organizations can bring unwanted or unneeded items for reuse, including clothing, small furniture, kitchen items, children’s toys, books, and shoes.
Clothing and textiles do not need to be in good condition; torn or stained clothing is OK. Do not bring eWaste, chemicals, medical equipment, appliances, food items, baby items (other than clothing), or broken items.
The Solid Waste Division encourages the public to check with their local thrift stores to see if they can accept donations before bringing items to the Kaua‘i Resource Center, located at 3460 Ahukini Rd.
Due to health and safety concerns, heavy equipment in the area, and to reduce the chance of injury to customers unloading heavy items, Goodwill requests that the public remain in their vehicles while on-site.
Thrift stores and businesses, call the Recycling Office at 808-241-4838 or email Ssumner@higoodwill.org to schedule pick-up service.
For information about general recycling or reuse, call 808-241-4841 or visit www.kauai.gov/reuse.
