Special marine warning issued for Kaua‘i Channel and leeward waters because of gusty showers
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a special marine warning for Kaua‘i Channel and leeward waters of the Garden Isle until 8:45 a.m. today (March 13) because of gusty showers moving through the area.

Winds accompanying the line of showers are gusting up to 40 knots — or about 46 mph. Briefly stronger winds and potentially sudden higher waves can damage small crafts.
Locations impacted include FAD Buoy CK, Makahuena Point, Lehua Rock, Nohili Point, FAD Buoy KK, FAD Buoy V, FAD Buoy PP and the southern tip of Ni‘ihau.
Seafarers and the public are advised to prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas and blinding downpours.
