Full closure of Temporary Kapaʻa Bypass Road scheduled for reconstruction project
Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation notifies Kauaʻi motorists of the full closure of the Temporary Kapaʻa Bypass Road, also known as Highway 5600, coming up next week.
This two-way leg of the roadway is slated to be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday nights to Friday mornings March 11-29 from Kūhiō Highway in Wailuā to ʻOlohena Road in Kapaʻa.
The closure is necessary for reconstruction of the existing pavement along the route.
Work has been coordinated with all first responders; traffic control flaggers will be posted at both ends of the project in case of emergencies.
Work is weather permitting.
