Application period opens March 2 for free 2026-27 public pre-kindergarten program
Executive Office on Early Learning begins accepting applications March 2 for its public pre-kindergarten program for the 2026–27 school year.

The office’s public pre-K program provides free, high-quality pre-kindergarten to eligible children ages 3 and 4 years old in the 2 years prior to entering kindergarten.
Hawaiʻi’s youngest learners receive support during a critical stage of development by participating in the program, helping build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success.
“High-quality early learning experiences prepare our keiki socially, emotionally and academically,” said Executive Office on Early Learning Director Yuuko Arikawa-Cross in the announcement about the upcoming application period. “We encourage families to apply early and take advantage of this free opportunity to give their child a strong start.”
Executive Office on Early Learning’s public pre-K classrooms are located throughout the state in partnership with Hawaiʻi Department of Education, making access to early learning more convenient for all Hawaiʻi families.
The office has 117 classrooms throughout 89 state Education Department campuses statewide with plans to expand even more.
Families interested in applying can visit the Executive Office on Early Learning website beginning March 2 to complete the online application.
Additional information about eligibility requirements, priority categories, classroom locations and enrollment timelines will also be available on the Executive Office on Early Learning website.
