Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation invites residents to share their thoughts about future land transportation needs for freight, motorists, transit, bicyclists and pedestrians as part of the Statewide Long-Range Land Transportation Plan update.

Several public meetings are planned March 10-12 for community members to give input on the statewide plan as well as the Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island plans.

The statewide plan is the state Transportation Department’s roadmap through 2045 for how to improve transportation systems people rely on to get around.

It examines current and future needs; considers issues such as congestion, safety, sea‑level rise, erosion and changing travel patterns; and works with community members to identify priorities and solutions.

The plan also helps guide decisions about what projects to fund and how to keep critical routes safe, reliable and resilient for the future.

Public meetings will also include discussion about surveys soliciting feedback about needs and opportunities collected during past community meetings.

Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation will share those results as well as outcomes from its scenario planning task, financial forecast and funding strategies.
