Annual Mayor’s Youth Track Meets scheduled for students in kindergarten to eighth grade

Students across Kaua‘i can build confidence and celebrate sportsmanship by participating in the Mayor’s Youth Track Meets this spring.

Hosted by the Department of Parks and Recreation, the annual Mayor’s Youth Track Meet for students in kindergarten through fifth grade is scheduled for the following dates and locations:

  • Hanapēpē Stadium at 9 a.m. on April 11
  • Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex in Kapa‘a at 9 a.m. on April 18

Participants can compete in a variety of field and running events, including standing broad jump and softball throw as well as running events such as 50 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4×100 relay.

The free event offers students an opportunity to compete in a fun, competitive, and supportive environment. Students may register at their respective schools or on the day of the track meet.

Now in its second year, the Mayor’s Youth Track Meet for middle school students from sixth to eighth grade is also scheduled.

The Kaua‘i Police Activities League, in partnership with Island School and Iwi Kua, is hosting the track meet at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, at Island School in Līhu‘e. The meet will be divided by grade level and gender.

Events will include high jump, long jump, shot put, 4×60-meter hurdle relay, 60-meter open, 400-meter open, 1,600-meter medley relay, and 800-meter medley relay.

Registration is free and open through April 30. To participate, parents or guardians must:

  • Create an account on athletic.net and add their child as a Managed Athlete; participants not affiliated with a school may register as Individual Athletes.
  • Complete the Kaua‘i Police Activities League registration form at kauaipal.org.

Parents and guardians may also contact their school’s designated representative for questions about participation.
