The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands plans to develop approximately 1,100 homesteads on the site for beneficiaries, including a mix of single-family and agricultural communities.

David Hinazumi, Grove Farm’s senior vice president, provided a statement in the farm’s newsletter, saying: “The sale is in alignment with Grove Farm’s mission to support local homeownership, and we are honored to have partnered with DHHL.”

The project is expected to help address Kaua‘i’s ongoing housing shortage.
