Hawai‘i Tourism Authority to share draft destination management action plans
Hawai‘i Tourism Authority is taking the next steps in its destination management action plan process.

Insights gathered last fall from community and advisory group meetings informed draft destination management action plans for responsible tourism management at the island level.
The draft plans now will be shared with the public during a series of online community meetings.
Participants must reside on their respective island, since these are island-specific actions.
Schedule of upcoming online community sharing meetings.
- Hawai‘i Island: Noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 12.
- Oʻahu: 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 18.
- Maui: Noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 18.
- Lāna‘i: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 18.
- Kauaʻi: Noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 19.
- Molokaʻi: Noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 25.
The state agency hosted more than 30 in-person and online community listening sessions from September to December 2025 throughout the Hawaiian Islands, allowing residents to share ideas for tourism that preserve cultural, historic and environmental resources, while supporting community well-being, ensuring alignment with each island’s unique identity and values.
“The community’s voice is important to us. We want to manage tourism in a manner that is consistent with what the community wants and the visitor industry needs,” said Hawai‘i Tourism Authority Interim President and Chief Executive Officer Caroline Anderson in an announcement about the upcoming meetings. “Residents freely shared their insights with us and we listened and paid attention. We would not have been able to move these destination management action plans forward without their valuable feedback.”
Registration is required to receive the Zoom links to the online community meetings.
Those who want to participate can register online.
