The Mauna Kea Stewardship and Oversight Authority, in partnership with Kua o Wākea, will host its fifth community workshop on Kaua‘i to gather feedback on the stewardship of the Big Island mauna.

The workshop will take place tonight at the Kauaʻi Community College, OCET 105, from 5 to 7 p.m. Registration is encouraged, as it helps plan for venue space, materials, and refreshments. Participants may also join virtually via YouTube link: YouTube Live.

“In keeping with our commitment to a mutual stewardship model, these upcoming workshops offer opportunities to share manaʻo about the future of Mauna Kea, learn more about the Management Planning process, and help shape priorities, access, and appropriate uses,” according to a release from the stewardship group.

The Kaua‘i workshop is among 10 events planned across the Hawaiian Islands that started on Jan. 15.

These workshops build upon previous community efforts, including the Mauna Kea House Legislative Working Group established through House Resolution 33 and Act 255, which created the Mauna Kea Stewardship Oversight Authority. In 2025, the authority held five Community Talk Story Sessions on Hawaiʻi Island.

For those unable to attend, the public is invited to complete a community survey here.
