Overnight closures planned for Kūhiō Highway near Hanalei Bridge beginning Feb. 2

Kūhiō Highway is scheduled to be fully closed overnight on Hanalei Hill on weeknights beginning in February to allow for road reconstruction work near the Hanalei Bridge, according to the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.
The closures will affect Route 560 between Hanalei Plantation Road and ʻŌhiki Road from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday, beginning Feb. 2 and continuing through Feb. 13.
The highway will remain open during overnight hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Transportation officials said the closures are needed to reconstruct existing pavement on the Hanalei side of the bridge. If crews complete the work ahead of schedule, the highway will reopen sooner than planned.
The department also noted that additional overnight closures may be scheduled later for asphalt treatment on the Princeville side of the Hanalei Bridge.
Emergency responders have been notified of the planned closures and will be allowed to pass through the work zone if necessary. Variable message boards will also be posted in advance to alert motorists to the nighttime closures.
