REMINDER: Kapa‘a Satellite DMV site open, available to assist East Kaua‘i residents
Kaua‘i County Division of Motor Vehicles reminds the public that — while services are somewhat limited and by appointment-only — its Kapa‘a satellite location is open and available to assist East Kaua‘i residents.

The Kapa‘a Satellite DMV is housed at Kapa‘a Armory, located at 4750 Kāhau Road.
It is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for appointments Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
“We want to remind residents that the Kapa‘a Satellite DMV is another convenient option for accessing select motor vehicle and county services closer to home,” said Kaua‘i County Mayor Derek Kawakami in the county’s reminder. “This location helps improve accessibility while allowing us to streamline service through scheduled appointments and mobile technology.”
The Kapa‘a Satellite DMV offers these services:
- Motor vehicle transactions.
- Transactions for utility payments, bus passes and tipping coupons.
All services at the Kapa‘a Satellite DMV are available by appointment only. The site does not offer walk-in service or Kūpuna Hour at this time.
Customers must check in for their scheduled appointment upon arrival by using their mobile device.
They then will be notified when a service representative is ready to assist them and be directed to one of three service windows.
Customers with an appointment can check in up to 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time. Appointments are canceled if customers arrive more than 5 minutes late.
Because of limited service capacity, customers seeking the following services should continue to visit the Līhu‘e DMV location:
- Driver license, state ID or commercial driver license (CDL) services.
- Driver permits and road testing.
- Dealer and bank services.
- Financial responsibility matters.
- Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspection (PMVI) support.
Appointments can be scheduled online for the Kapa‘a and Līhu‘e locations at the Kaua‘i County Division of Motor Vehicles website — just click on “Book Your DMV Appointment.”
Select “add another service” when prompted during the booking process if you require multiple transactions.
Visit the Kaua‘i County Division of Motor Vehicles website or email to kauaidmv@kauai.gov for additional information or with any questions about DMV services and availability.
