Reminder: Water service shutdown scheduled in Līhu‘e for hydrant replacement
A water service shutdown is scheduled in Līhu‘e on Wednesday.
The Kaua‘i County Department of Water will turn off water from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow Cushnie Construction Company to perform a hydrant and hydrant lateral replacement. The work is weather permitting.

During this time, water service will be temporarily unavailable or will have extremely low pressure for affected customers on Lalei Place, a portion of Palai Street, and a portion of Kaana Street. A water buffalo providing potable (drinking) water will be available at the corner of Lalei Place and Palai Street. Customers must bring their own water containers.
Customers located in the affected area are advised to prepare for the shutdown by taking the following steps:
- Store enough water to meet your needs until water service can be restored.
- Notify family, friends, tenants, and neighbors.
- Ensure water heaters do not empty during the shutdown.
- Avoid using appliances that require water, during the shutdown.
Additionally, a partial lane closure will be in effect on Palai Street, and a flagman will be on-site to assist with traffic control. Motorists are advised to use caution and obey all posted signs, traffic controls, and flaggers.
Updates for the shutdown will be posted at www.kauaiwater.org. For more information, call the Department of Water at 808-245-5455 or email publicrelations@kauaiwater.org.
