Oh, Christmas tree. Oh, Christmas tree. Can we recycle your branches?

The answer is a definite yes on the Garden Isle, and Kaua‘i County reminds residents where they can take those living centerpieces of a family’s holiday celebrations after they provide all the cheer they can.

There are several sites around Kaua‘i that accept Christmas trees for recycling. Drop-off locations include several county transfer stations, Kekaha Landfill and Kaua‘i Nursery and Landscaping. (Photo File)

Christmas trees are accepted for recycling from 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. daily — except on holidays — at green waste drop-off areas of the Hanalei, Hanapēpē, Kapa‘a and Līhu‘e transfer stations and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kekaha Landfill.

A drop-off point for the trees is also available 7 days a week at Kaua‘i Nursery and Landscaping on Kaumuali‘i Highway in Puhi. Trees can be loaded onto the truck parked in the Kaua‘i Nursery and Landscaping driveway.

The trees must be bare and free of flocking, tinsel, stands and ornaments when brought to any of the recycling locations.

Also keep in mind that the green waste sites are closed during inclement weather.
