Overnight traffic changes on Kūhiō Highway as roadwork continues in Hanamā’ulu
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation has scheduled a temporary detour affecting southbound traffic on Kῡhiō Highway next week.
The detour will affect Kapule Highway on Wednesday, Dec. 17, and Thursday, Dec. 18.
The detour will affect Kapule Highway from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on both nights as crews perform essential work between Kūhiō Highway and Ahukini Road.
During the closure, southbound drivers will be diverted onto a temporary detour, with traffic shifted to the mauka shoulder of the highway.
Concrete barriers will be set on the makai side of the highway as part of the ongoing restriping efforts. Northbound traffic will continue to pass through the work area without disruption.
The Hawai’i Department of Transportation urges motorists to plan for delays and drive with caution as construction crews work to complete the work.
