Lane, road closures scheduled on Kukui and Niu streets Dec. 15-17

The Department of Public Works has announced a series of lane and road closures next week in the Kapa‘a area as crews conduct geotechnical subsurface exploration tied to planned traffic signal upgrades and a new utility pole installation.
Work is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 15, through Wednesday, Dec. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A single-lane closure will be in place Dec. 15 for the left-turn lane on Kukui Street west of its intersection with Kūhiō Highway.
On Dec. 16, a portion of the east side of Kukui Street at Kūhiō Highway will be closed, followed by a closure of the south end of Niu Street at the same highway intersection on Dec. 17.
County officials said access to properties will be maintained, but motorists should expect delays, detours and intermittent lane restrictions. Drivers are urged to follow posted signs, traffic controls and flagger instructions while work is underway.
The completion of all work depends on weather conditions.
