Kauaʻi Fire Department firefighters are responding to a brush fire estimated to be about 100 feet by 50 feet in Kōloa.

The fire was reported at 2:15 p.m., and crews from the Kōloa and Kalāheo fire stations, Tender 5, Tender 3, the on-duty battalion chief, and crews from the Department of Public Works are responding to the incident.

According to a preliminary report, crews are working to extinguish the brush fire and have it under control. However, heavy smoke continues as it is a deep-seated green waste pile on fire.

No injuries or damaged structures have been reported at this time. The Kauaʻi Emergency Management Agency is monitoring the incident.
