Friends of both the Princeville and Līhuʻe libraries will hold a holiday used book sale over the next two weeks, offering bargain books and media while raising money for community programs.

The Friends of the North Shore Library will host the first sale on Saturday, Dec. 6 in the conference room of the newly reopened Princeville Public Library on Kauaiʻs North Shore.

The sale will start at 9 a.m. for members of the Princeville Library Friends. The general public may shop from 10 to 11:45 a.m., and again from 1 to 3 p.m.

People also can pick up a membership application at the library or register on the morning of the sale.

The Princeville sale also will offer DVDs, audio CDs and a large selection of jigsaw puzzles. All proceeds benefit library resources and programs. Donations of gently used books will be accepted behind the Friends’ counter inside the library.

Shoppers will find books, DVDs, CDs and other items priced to sell.

Funds raised help support improvements and programs at Lihue Library, including recent projects such as the community mural and the Early Literacy Center in the Children’s room.

Kristen Hillman, regional branch manager at Līhu’e Library, said: “A heartfelt mahalo to everyone who has already contributed — your generosity makes this event possible. These book sales directly benefit our community, so supporting them is key to keeping our libraries thriving here on Kaua’i.
