The Kapa‘a Middle School Choir and Ukulele Band is launching a fundraising effort to help send nearly 200 students in March to the WorldStrides Music Festival in Anaheim, California.

The Kaua’i Middle School Choir Boosters Club is seeking sponsors and donated items for upcoming fundraisers. The trip will cost about $1,800 per student. The package includes airfare, lodging, transportation, festival performances and adjudication, workshops, and sightseeing activities.

The award-winning ensemble, made up of students in grades 6 through 8, has been directed by Mary Lardizabal since the school opened in 1997.

Co-directors Loke Sasil and Michael Koerte also support the program. The group has participated in the WorldStrides festival for more than 25 years, earning numerous national honors.

Organizers said the trip offers students the chance to learn from other music programs across the country while experiencing high-level instruction and performance standards.

Donation forms outlining sponsorship levels are available through the Kauaʻi Middle School Choir Boosters Club. Click here to access the sponsor form and learn how to become a sponsor.
