UPDATE: Lane, road closures for Akemāmā Road in Lāwaʻi now scheduled a week later

Update at 12:32 p.m. Nov. 18, 2025: Single lane closures and full road closures along a portion of Akemāmā Road were rescheduled a week later because of inclement weather.

The closures and road work are now planned from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 24 to Dec. 5, again, weather permitting.

A full road closure will be necessary for crews to complete work Nov. 24. Lane closures will occur from Nov. 25-26 and Dec. 1-5.

There will be no work on Nov. 27 and 28 because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Original post at 3 a.m. Nov. 13, 2025: Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works announces planned single lane closures and full road closures next week along a portion of Akemāmā Road in Lāwaʻi.

Road work and closures are scheduled, weather permitting, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 17-21.

These lane and road closures are necessary for public safety while Public Works Roads Division crews to complete culvert and road repairs within the county right-of-way.

Lane closures are planned Nov. 17 and 19-21. A full road closure is also necessary Nov. 18.

Motorists should make appropriate arrangements, use alternate routes when possible and allow extra time to get to their destinations if they must drive through the work area.

No parking will be allowed in the work zones. Flaggers will be directing traffic.
