Injured 56-year-old Colorado woman rescued from Waipo‘o Falls Trail in Kōke‘e
Kaua‘i Fire Department first responders on Thursday (Nov. 13) rescued an injured 56-year-old woman visiting from Colorado off Waipo‘o Falls Trail in Kōke‘e State Park.

Personnel with the Kaua‘i Fire Department helicopter training cadre, who were conducting certification training in Kekaha for new Līhu‘e firefighters at the time, responded to the incident aboard Air 1.
Rescuers opted for an alternate landing zone because of adverse weather conditions. Initial first aid was administered at the scene before the hiker was loaded into the helicopter and taken to the NASA landing zone.
The Colorado woman was transferred to Waimea Fire Station personnel and an American Medical Response team upon landing, then transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
