Kaua‘i firefighters contain 10-acre brush fire sparked Wednesday night
A portion of Kokeʻe Road is currently closed as firefighters work to stamp out hot spots of a brush fire that was contained early this morning.
The fire was reported shortly before 10 p.m. on Nov. 12 in the Kōke‘e area near mile marker 4, and the size of the blaze was estimated to be 10 acres.
No injuries or damaged structures have been reported at this time.
According to a preliminary report, crews worked throughout the night and successfully contained the blaze. Crews are returning this morning to finish mopping up and to ensure no further hot spots remain.
Firefighters from the Hanapēpē, Kalaheo, and Waimea fire stations, Rescue 3, Tender 1, and the on-duty Battalion Chief are responding to this incident. The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife assisted in the incident, providing mutual aid.
The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is monitoring the incident.
