Update: Weliweli Road drainage work delayed until January 2026

Update at 3:35 p.m. Nov. 11, 2025: Kaua’i County Department of Public Works and contractor Cushnie Construction alert the public that the installation of a drainage swale across Weliweli Road in Kōloa — originally scheduled to begin Nov. 10 — is delayed.

Construction is now anticipated to begin in January 2026. More information will be provided when available.

Original post at 1 a.m. Nov. 7, 2025: Kaua’i County Department of Public Works and contractor Cushnie Construction announce a full road closure along a portion of Weliweli Road in Kōloa starting next week that will last into mid-December.

The closure is necessary from Nov. 10 through mid-December, weather permitting, for installation of a drainage swale across Weliweli Road.

Access to properties and businesses will continue to be provided.

Motorists should make appropriate arrangements and allow extra time to get to destinations.

No parking will be allowed in the work zones during the closure period; flaggers will be positioned at the work zone to direct traffic.
