25-year-old woman killed in head-on collision on Kuamo‘o Road in Wailuā
A 25-year-old Anahola woman died following a 2-vehicle crash the evening of Nov. 4 on Kuamo‘o Road near Melia Street in Wailuā.

Kaua‘i police report that a 2009 Nissan was traveling west at about 6:30 p.m. on Kuamo‘o Road when a 2006 Honda sedan traveling east collided head on with the van after crossing the centerline.
The driver of the Honda sedan was identified as 25-year-old Moani Kalima.
She was transported to Wilcox Medical Center in Līhuʻe, where she was later pronounced dead.
The 50-year-old man from Kapa‘a who was driving the Nissan van was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Kuamo‘o Road was closed in both directions for about 2.5 hours while Kaua‘i Police Department Traffic Safety Section conducted an investigation at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate speed appears to be a contributing factor.
Toxicology results are also pending to determine whether impairment played a role.
The investigation remains ongoing.
This is Kaua‘i’s seventh traffic fatality this year.
